The proposals will introduce 30 new hotel rooms, designed to mirror the high-quality rooms found in the existing hotel. These rooms are tailored for short-term stays and people visiting London's vibrant West End district.
Each room will feature an en-suite bathroom, further enhancing the accommodation options available at Assembly Hotel and providing affordable yet premium options for visitors to Leicester Square.
The proposals span across 10 storeys, with an image illustrating the massing provided to the right. Importantly, the scheme will be constructed above the existing rear access way on the vacant site, starting from the first floor and ascending upwards. This measure is crucial to maintaining emergency access from the Odeon, ensuring fire safety protocols are preserved.
The existing visitor and staff entrance on Charing Cross Road shall continue to be used to accommodate the additional number of hotel guests. No changes are proposed to the ground floor area as the extension will be suspended to ensure that fire escape access is maintained from Odeon Cinema.
The proposals are centred around complementing the existing architecture, with the 10-storey addition aimed at enhancing the hotel's aesthetic appeal and rejuvenating the surrounding streetscape. Every detail of the design has been carefully considered to ensure alignment with the character of the existing hotel and the Leicester Square area. It is proposed that the building extension will employ the same materials as the existing structure.
